N. Brown Internet Sales Soar

N. Brown (better known to many for their JD Williams catalogue, and a host of other catalogues) have reported that their internet sales have out-stripped mail-order sales for the first time ever. Shares in N.Brown responded accordingly, rising 17p to 317p yesterday as the online and catalogue retailer commented that sales for the first ten weeks of 2007 were up 17.9 per cent. During the period, online sales rose by a massive 47 per cent.

Alan White, chief executive of N Brown, said, "This trend gives us great optimism that a lot more internet growth is yet to come."

Mr White also said that internet sales were up 51 per cent to £112 million in the year to February 24, taking internet sales to 22 per cent of total N. Brown revenue from the 16 per cent seen last year. This tops the 17 per cent of sales that are directly derived from the N. Brown family of mail-order catalogues.

Other well-known N.Brown brands include Oxendales, Simply Be, Home Essentials and more than twenty other brand-names.
